The main mission of AHA is to promote, encourage and grow youth hockey in the Alpena community. We want anyone who is interested in playing youth hockey to have the opportunity to take part in our great game.  To help accomplish this mission we offer the AHA scholarship program.

AHA Scholarships

AHA Scholarships are based on a family's financial need and if the scholarship funds are available.

AHA Scholarships are only available for members of AHA teams. These scholarships are not designed for long-term or continued financial support. This is a one-time, partial scholarship award that is intended for members facing a temporary financial hardship, or a compelling current event that resulted in the need for scholarship consideration. All awards will be applied directly to the member’s AHA registration fees and are not redeemable for cash.  All award decisions are at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are given only when funds are available.

Please be aware that we offer a couple of options for reducing registration fees.

  1. The Early Bird Discount provides a $50 discount for each registered player if registered before September 1st.
  2. The Raffle Ticket Fundraiser offers you the opportunity to recoup $200 off your registration fees through raffle ticket sales.

AHA Scholarship Process

  1. The player must first be registered with USA Hockey.
  2. The player must apply for a Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) Player Scholarship Fund.
  3. The scholarship application form must be completed online from the link on this web page. The application will be submitted to the AHA Board for review. You will then be notified of the AHA Board decision.

Volunteer Activity

AHA is run by volunteers. To be eligible for a MAHA or AHA Scholarship you will be asked to perform 4 hours of volunteer service for AHA.

Confidentiality

All application information will be held in strict confidence.

THERE IS A STRICT DEADLINE OF SEPTEMBER 15th FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS TO BE SUBMITTED.
